Marmot Precip Jacket: Lightweight, Packable Protection
This unlined, lightweight jacket is cut slightly shorter in length than other rain jackets I own, which makes it ideal for travel. Folded flat, it fit easily into the zippered mesh pocket on the lid of my overstuffed suitcase. The Precip jacket weighs almost nothing, so it's also a perfect item to toss into a day pack. With sealed seams, protected zipper, and a comfortable hood, this jacket kept me dry in many downpours. I also encountered a lot of wind during my trip to New Zealand--while hiking along the cliffs overlooking Hahei Beach, while watching whales from a tour boat, and while wandering along the hillside in Governor's Bay (just outside of Christchurch, NZ's "Windy City." ). In all cases, the Precip jacket did an excellent job of breaking the wind. Bottom Line: I wear this jacket in all kinds of weather, warm and cold, wet and dry. The armpit zippers make it a functional piece for activities like hiking where I build up a sweat. And I love the large pockets, which hold maps, a wallet, a camera, and much more. Available in men's and women's sizes and colors.--E.D. (April '04) Price: $99.00 Manufacturer's Site: www.marmot.com Editor's Note: This jacket has been updated since this review was written. |
